Police seize 50 lakh fake Indian currency notes from doctor, his associates in Delhi
The Special Cell of Delhi police has busted a racket that printed and supplied more than 5 crore fake Indian currency notes in the last five years.

New Delhi: In a major crackdown against the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) syndicate, the Special Cell of Delhi police has busted a racket, which printed and supplied more than 5 crore fake currency notes in the last five years. The police have arrested a doctor and his two associates involved in the racket with Rs 50 lakh fake Indian currency notes.
With the arrest, the police successfully unearthed a complete set-up of FICN printing and supplying in Delhi-NCR and neighbouring states. The police are now interrogating the accused to ascertain more facts about the other gang members and people involved in the racket.

Three gang members including a doctor has been arrested
Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), HGS Dhaliwal stated that a team of Special Cell under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sanjay Dutt and ACP Sunil Kumar has arrested the three key members of an interstate FICN cartel. The accused have been identified as Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan.
The Special CP said, “Recently, the police team received information that one Asif is engaged in the printing and trafficking of fake Indian currency notes. On December 30, 2023, specific information was received that Asif, along with his 2-3 associates, would reach near the Akshardham Metro Station in the intervening night of December 30 and 31, with a huge quantity of fake Indian currency notes, and they would supply the same to their other associates in Delhi.”

“Accordingly, a team led by Inspector Manender Singh was constituted, and a trap was led at Noida Link Road, near Akshardham Metro Station. Asif Ali and his two associates, namely Danish Ali and Sartaj Khan, were intercepted by the raiding party and apprehended after a brief scuffle at around 10.00 pm,” Special CP Dhaliwal said.
On search, fake Indian currency notes equivalent to Rs 50 lakh in the denomination of 500 were recovered from their possession.

A case under the relevant provisions of law was registered against them at Special Cell police station and further legal action was initiated. The four accused were presented before the court and were sent to police remand for 4 days.
During interrogation, a complete FICN printing set-up, including raw materials, high-quality laptops and printers, and other equipment, was unearthed from their hideout in Sahaswan, Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, accused Asif Ali in connivance with Sartaj Khan, who was tech-savvy in computer software, planned to print and supply fake Indian currency notes. His old friend and associate Danish Ali arranged a secret hideout in UP’s Badaun for establishing a printing set-up. Danish Ali is studying BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicines and Surgery).
Further legal action is being taken against the accused.
