Expressing distress over Tuticorin custodial deaths, Superstar Rajnikanth on Sunday extended his deepest condolence to kin of thre deceased. This comes after P Jayaraj (59) and his son Bennix (31) (also being spelt as Fenix and Bennicks) allegedly died of brutality and alleged sexual assault in police custody at Sathankulam police station.
As per sources, Rajnikanth also spoke to Jayaraj's wife over phone to extended his condolences to family

Earlier, Kamal Haasan, and or stars of South film industry expressed ir anger at incident. Kamal Haasan has expressed disgust over Tuticorin custodial deaths and has urged government to probe furr and deliver justice to perpetrators of crime. He stated that incident that has taken place in Santhukulam 'can happen to any one of us' and furr termed it as unjust and 'complete violation of human rights'. He interpellated Tamil Nu CM Edappi K. Palaniswami and urged that monetary relief for victims' families is t eugh and that stern action must be taken in this brutal incident.
On Saturday, Priyanka Chopra, Kareen Kapoor Khan, Shrdha Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and many or stars of Hindi film industry also issued responses, terming it ‘disgusting’, ‘disturbing, also demanding justice for deceased and strict punishment for perpetrators.

Tuticorin Custodial Deaths
P Jayaraj (59) and his son Bennicks (31) were picked up for questioning by cops in Sathankulam police for violating lockdown rules on June 23. As per police, duo kept ir mobile shop open during lockdown. y were allegedly beaten to death by police and as per some reports, were also sexually assaulted in police custody.

This incident led to state-wide uproar with more than a thousand people protesting in Sathankulam town in Thoothukudi district. furore even spre to social media with #JusticeForJayarajAndFenix becoming a top trend on Twitter. Meanwhile, state has suspended four policemen, including two sub-inspectors involved in incident. On June 23, more than a thousand people h protested in Sathankulam town in Thoothukudi district over incident.

Court orders probe
Murai bench of Mras High Court on Friday asked Kovilpatti judicial magistrate to visit Kovilpatti branch jail, photograph ministrative and medical records related to case and CCTV recordings of jail building. court postponed case for June 30.
