Earlier on Tuesday, the Ranchi magistrate court had granted bail to an 18-year-old student over an alleged communal social media post, on the condition that she would distribute the copies of Quran.
The judicial magistrate for the case granted bail to Richa Bharti over an alleged communal content that was posted on Facebook, and further in a precondition for bail asked her to donate five copies of the religious script. The verdict was opposed by fringe groups.

Narrating her version of the story, the girl stated that the post was not disrespectful and that it has been unfair on the part of the legal body to impose such sort of a condition.
She said, "For a normal post, I'll have to go to the Masjid and distribute the Quran. The post was normal, you'll find such things on other people's posts too about their faith. It was nothing disrespectful, I had not even written it. I respect the decision by the Court, but I don't think its right."

The case was registered with the Pithoria police station after the Facebook post was shared. The subsequent arrest of Bharti drew major protests from the local community. The post has also managed to create a furor on social media against the verdict, with netizens citing it to be 'unconstitutional'.
