SC directs that Allahabad HC will monitor CBI probe in Hathras case; no immediate transfer
The SC on Tuesday said that the CBI investigation in the Hathras case will be monitored by the Allahabad High Court but did not transfer the case outside UP

In a big verdict, Supreme Court on Tuesday said that CBI investigation in Hathras case will be monitored by Allahab High Court. A bench heed by Chief Justice S A Bobde said that all aspects of case, including monitoring of probe and providing security to victim’s family as well as witnesses, would be considered by high court. bench also said that plea for transfer of trial out of Uttar Presh in case would be considered later, after CBI probe is completed.

Hathras case in Supreme Court
Appearing for UP government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta highlighted security detail provided to victim's family, maintaining that CRPF security is t necessary as 'state is n-partisan'. vocate Seema Kushwaha, representing victim's family, argued that trial should be transferred to Delhi while Indira Jaising argued that CRPF protection must be provided to family. Meanwhile, vocate Siddharth Luthra - representing one of accused, has asked that family must t reveal details of investigation to media - SC has allowed him to approach Allahab High Court.

Previously, UP govt informed that eight CCTV cameras have been installed outside victim's home to ensure ir security. state government too has asked apex court to monitor CBI probe as team began its investigation on Tuesday. team he along led by Dy SP Seema Pahuja has visited field where victim was allegedly strangled, along with victim's mor and bror, for recreating crime scene. team which was accompanied by a forensic expert and police personnel also visited site where victim was cremated by police, allegedly without family's permission.

What is Hathras rape case?
A 19-year-old Dalit woman was reported to have allegedly been raped by four upper-caste men in a field on September 14 - all accused have been arrested. victim succumbed to her injuries and her autopsy report re spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and cuts in her tongue with mention of rape. Citing it, police has claimed that victim was 't raped' highlighting that 'neck injury and trauma' were mentioned as cause of death and that traces of sperm were found in her private parts.

case took an ugly turn when UP police cremated victim's body at 2:30 AM on September 30, allegedly without family's consent, which has been refuted by police. Five police officers including district's Police Superintendent (SP) Vikrant Vir have been suspended for 'midnight funeral'. family has been offered an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakhs, govt job to one family member and a house by state govt as several upper-caste men protest outside victim's home, in favour of accused, stating that ' rape occurred'. UP government's SIT is still probing as case has w transferred to CBI, which has begun its investigation.
