SABARIMALA REVIEW VERDICT BY SC
Prouncing verdict on review petitions of Sabarimala, Supreme Court on Thursday referred case to a larger SC bench. While prouncing verdict, CJI Ranjan Gogoi said that idea behind review petitions was to revive debate as to what is an integral part of a religion. CJI observed that all religious groups have a right to practice ir religions freely. He said debate about constitutional validity regarding entry of women into places of religious worship is t limited to this case and said that it is also is seen in cases where women are t allowed to enter Dargah. In light of alternate verdict from top court, previous judgement by top court allowing entry of women stays in place.

CJI ded that it’s time top court evolves a judicial policy to do complete justice to constitutional principles. top court highlighted that issues arising in Sabarimala case and regarding Muslim women and Parsi women may be overlapping. n Court referred case to a 7-judge bench. Court said that larger bench would go beyond issue of Sabarimala and would consider practices of all faith.

What was review petition on Sabarimala Verdict?
review petition has been filed by Travancore Devaswom Board, Pandalam Royal Family and group of devotees against apex court's September 28, 2018 verdict. Around 56 review petitions and some fresh writ petitions were filed challenging verdict. top court h heard review petitions and writ petitions in open court before reserving its verdict on February 6 this year. What was Supreme Court's Sabarimala verdict last year?
In a historic verdict last year, Supreme Court ended centuries-old practice and allowed women of all s to enter Sabarimala temple. 4:1 judgment of Supreme Court upheld women's right to worship Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala. While terming ban on women in group of 10 to 51 as religious patriarchy, n CJI Dipak Misra declared discriminatory act as unconstitutional and violative of fundamental rights. n CJI Misra while prouncing judgment also said that women can't be suppressed on basis of biological aspects and that same can't get a seal of legitimacy. Justice Indu Malhotra prounced dissenting judgment in case and said it’s t up to courts to decide if such religious practices should be struck down and that rationality has place in matters of faith.
