Supreme Court has rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that sought for withdrawal of Z+ security given to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family, stating that it is for State to assess and take a call on such issues. Apex court bench heed by Justice Ashok Bhushan dismissed  plea filed by petitioner Himanshu Agarwal against a December 2019 order of Bombay High Court.

"It is for State to assess and review threat perception of individuals on a case to case basis," Apex court said in its order earlier this week.

Bombay High Court in its order h ted that  state was bound to provide Z+ security to individuals willing to bear entire cost for security to protect ir lives in view of ir own grave threat perceptions. Mumbai Police Commissioner has option but to ensure that highest level of Z+ security is provided to se private individuals, court order ded.

"Irrespective of wher any individual or any authority is convinced about existence or orwise of real threat to ir life or liberty, particularly when y are willing to bear entire cost for said security to protect ir lives in view of ir own grave threat perceptions", court order said.

Jio Net profit Rises

Meanwhile, Jio's net profit jumped to Rs 2,844 crore for second quarter ended September 30, 2020, from Rs 990 crore in year-ago period.
