Supreme Court to hear Arnab Goswami's plea challenging Bombay HC order tomorrow
A Supreme Court bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and Indira Banerjee will hear Arnab Goswami's plea challenging the Bombay HC order rejecting his bail plea.

Hours after Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami moved Supreme Court challenging Bombay High Court order rejecting his interim bail plea, top court listed matter for hearing on Wednesday. A two-judge bench comprising Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Indira Banerjee shall hear case. A day earlier, a division bench of Bombay HC comprising Justice SS Shinde and MS Karnik on Monday directed Sessions Court to decide on Arnab Goswami's bail plea within 4 days of his filing petition.
As bail plea was moved on Monday, Alibag Sessions Court shall have to rule on petition by Friday. While rejecting interim bail application of Arnab, bench clarified that its observations are prima facie in nature and will t apply to application made by Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief seeking regular bail. It held that rejection of interim bail plea will t be construed as an impediment to Arnab seeking alternative remedies. Meanwhile, Alibag Sessions Court is expected to take up Arnab's bail plea soon.

Arnab's shocking arrest
In a shocking development at 7.45 am on vember 4, Mumbai Police barged into house of Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and forcefully dragged him out while cameras were turned off. police personnel t only stopped Arnab from handing over medicines to his parents-in-law but also physically assaulted him and his son. Mumbai Police told Republic TV that Arnab has been arrested under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code in a trumped-up case.
It may be recalled that fake charges of suicide were levelled against Arnab Goswami in 2018. However, it is pertinent to te that aforesaid matter was closed by a court of law after closure report by police ted that case was made out. Arnab was neir served prior summons r allowed access to his legal team.

After being taken to Alibag Police Station, his lawyer informed that Arnab had suffered an injury on his left hand after being heckled by police. As per lawyer, he was pulled by his belt and was beaten on back of his spine. While Chief Judicial Magistrate rejected plea of Raigad police who had sought police custody, Arnab was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Critically, while prouncing judgment, CJM observed that re is chain showing nexus between suicide and role of accused i.e. Arnab.
