Vaniyampi Municipal Commissioner Cecil Thomas from Thirupattur district of Tamil Nu has been removed from his position after a video of him harassing  fruit sellers and vandalizing ir shops in a local market area went viral on social media. According to sources, departmental action has been initiated against him and he has been put on a 'waiting list'. Meanwhile, ar official, Mevisharam ME Babu, from municipality has been appointed as Municipal Commissioner as of w. 

On Tuesday, a video went viral wherein Cecil Thomas was seen pulling down shops and toppling pushcarts of local fruit vendors, alleging that y didn't follow social distancing rms.

Cecil Thomas apologizes

On Wednesday, Thomas gave a press conference apologizing for his actions. He h said "We gave multiple warnings to maintain social distancing rms in market. We don't want to become this place like ar Koyembedu and hence I behaved in such a way, this is for welfare of people, I am sorry for what happened.  district ministration is trying to make this place a zero contamination zone." He furr went to  shops and provided m with compensation for dam, t failing to hold a photo-op with same people he harassed.
