Vizag gas leak: SC refuses to interfere with NGT order directing LG Polymers to pay 50 cr
LG Polymers had filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking immediate interference in the NGT's order directing payment of Rs 50 cr for the Vizag gas leak

In ar development in Vizag gas leak trdy which claimed 12 lives, Supreme Court has refused to interfere with National Green Tribunal (NGT) order issued earlier. NGT h directed LG Polymers, owners of plant where gas leak happened, to deposit Rs 50 crores for dam caused by Styrene gas leak.
A bench heed by Justice Uday Umesh Lalit on Tuesday refused to entertain petition filed by LG polymers challenging order of NGT. "We can't interfere at this st as matter is seized by NGT," apex court observed. court has stated that matter can be raised before NGT on June 1 and has kept it pending for consideration on June 8.

Apart from directing LG Polymers to pay Rs 50 crores, NGT h also directed setting up of a 5-member committee heed by former Andhra Presh High Court judge B Seshasayana Reddy to visit and inspect site at earliest and submit a report before next date of hearing in matter.

' SM left at LG Polymers plant in Vizag'
LG Polymers on Monday said it has completed transportation of its inventory of dely Styrene Momer (SM) from Visakhapatnam to South Korea. It has shipped entire stock lying at its Visakhapatnam plant and styrene tanks that were at local port re, said LG Polymers, a step-down firm of South Korean Petro giant LG Chem, said in a statement.

"re is w SM left at LG Polymers plant in Vizag," LG Polymers Managing Director Jeong Sunkey said. Besides, an eight-member team sent by South Korean company from its Seoul hequarter to investigate Visakhapatnam gas leak incident and rehabilitate victims of trdy that killed at least 11 people and forced evacuation of thousands has started its work.
