Bhubaneswar: Ruksana Bano, a talented Sambalpuri singer from Odisha , tragically died on September 19, at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The 27-year-old singer was hospitalised since August 27 due to serious health complications.
Her family has raised alarming allegations, claiming she was a victim of "slow poisoning" by a fellow Sambalpuri artist. While hospital sources indicated that Ruksana was being treated for Scrub Typhus, they have not yet confirmed the exact cause of her death.
Ruksana's contributions to Odisha 's music scene greatly enriched its cultural heritage, making her untimely passing a significant loss for both her fans and the music community. Her popular songs, such as "Mehkega Dil Ka Angan," "Pardes Me Hai Sajaan," and "Teri Ankho Me Hai Jaadu," were major hits in Odisha's music industry.
According to her sister, Ruby Bano, Ruksana fell ill while shooting a video in Bolangir after consuming some juice. She was initially admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna but was later transferred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir due to her worsening condition. Eventually, she was moved to a private hospital in Bargarh and then to AIIMS Bhubaneswar when her health showed no improvement.
Both her mother and sister have claimed that Ruksana received threats from a rival singer, although they did not disclose the individual's identity.
