CRPF dog saves life of a man trapped in a landslide in Jammu & Kashmir, watch the rescue

The CRPF men on Wednesday were able to find a man trapped under the debris of a landslide which had occurred day before near milestone 147 on Jammu-Srinagar highway thanks to their dog Ajaxi.

The CRPF men on Wednesday were able to find a man trapped under the debris of a landslide which had occurred day before near milestone 147 on Jammu-Srinagar highway thanks to their dog Ajaxi. 

The canine lead the CRPF men towards the man who had been buried amidst the remains from the landslide. The men who belonged to the 72nd Battalion swung into action and dug the man out and rescued him. He has been admitted to the hospital. As per reports, the man has been identified as Pradeep Kumar and he is a resident of Ludhwal.

Heavy and relentless rainfall in the state had triggered landslides in several areas. 

On Tuesday morning, the pilgrimage to goddess Vaishno Devi shrine located in Trikuta Hills was also suspended following a landslide on the New Track situated between Adhkuwari and Bhawan. However, the pilgrimage is continuing through the traditional track.

The landslide has occurred at various isolated parts of the region causing traffic snarls at major junctions. Traffic on National Highway-1C (Katra-Reasi-Pouni-Shivkhori) has been suspended, following landslides and shooting stones in the area. The vehicular traffic between Jammu and Srinagar was suspended on Wednesday due to landslides at Moud in Udhampur.

Landslide in state results to suspension of Shri Amarnath Yatra

The vehicular traffic between Jammu and Srinagar was suspended on Wednesday due to landslides at Moud in Udhampur. According to Traffic Police sources, the intermittent shooting stones and rain has been hindering the debris clearance operation at these sites. "The 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed due to landslide and falling of stones from hilltops in Moud area of Udhampur district due to continuous heavy rainfall," LK Taneja, DSP Traffic, Udhampur said. "Shri Amarnath Yatra has been suspended as well. Traffic has been suspended on the highway due to falling of rocks and landslide. The men and machines have been pressed into service to clear the landslides but the highway is still closed," he added.
