CRPF Jawans who saved a woman honoured; receive DG's Commendation Disc and certificates for brave rescue

In the aftermath of the daring rescue of a 14-year old girl by two CRPF Jawans from a Tangmarg stream in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District, the CRPF Director General (DG) RR Bhatnagar awarded the DG's Commendation Disc and Certificates to both the Jawans.

In the aftermath of the daring rescue of a 14-year old girl by two CRPF Jawans from a Tangmarg stream in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District, the CRPF Director General (DG) RR Bhatnagar awarded the DG's Commendation Disc and Certificates to both the Jawans. 

Talking to Republic, the DG narrated the whole sequence of events and said that both Jawans have been commended for their actions for their presence of mind, alertness, the devotion to duty and their braveness. He also narrated the events that unfolded:

"As soon as the Constable Naidu and Constable Upendra heard the cries for help of a young girl, without wasting any time or without caring for their own lives they rushed to help the girl and they were also assisted by the rest of the party." 

He also added how the small stream was leading to a larger water source, hence the chances of the situation further deteriorating:

 "The currents were too fast and the riverlet was leading to the main river. It was a tricky situation and it would have been difficult to rescue her." he said 

Talking about CRPF's perennial alertness and service in keeping citizens safe, the DG said:

"The CRPF is always in support of the people. We are always ready to do our community service, relief and rescue operations along with the civic action programs which connect us to the public. We are here to serve and to ensure the security of the nation." 

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Monday rescued a 14-year old girl who was on the verge of drowning in a stream in Jammu and Kashmir's Tangmarg area in Baramulla. The 176 CRPF Tangmarg Company was engaged in the routine area domination of the place as per the regular schedule. Suddenly, the company which was strolling past the nearby flowing stream heard a cry for help. The CRPF personnel were shocked to see a girl being swept away by the strong tides in the stream which had a strong undercurrent. Here's the nerve-wracking video of the whole situation that emerged:

 Wasting no time and with a strong presence of mind and courage the two jawans from the patrolling party,  CT/GD M. G. Naidu and CT/GD N. Upendra rushed towards the flowing stream to rescue the young girl. Both of these alert jawans jumped in the stream and rescued the girl. Fellow jawans followed their partners and formed a human chain hence, successfully completing the rescue without any delay or mishaps. The young lady was later identified as Shareefa Gojri who hails from the Tangmarg area of Baramulla.
