Cyclone Titli: several Train services suspended between Odisha and Andhra until further notice

Following the high alert by IMD due to emerging cyclone Titli, many train services have been suspended between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh

Following the high alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar for the next three days due to the emerging cyclone Titli on the coasts of North Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha, train services have been suspended between Odisha’s Khurda Road and Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district after 10 PM. Also, trains coming from Uttar Pradesh from Howrah and Kharagpur side will not be allowed to enter Odisha from Bhadrak district 5:15 in the evening onwards.

In the southern region, trains will not be allowed from Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to go beyond Duvvada city in Visakhapatnam after 6:40 PM to ensure the safety of the passengers on board.

Furthermore, movement of passenger trains will also be temporarily suspended between Khurda Road in Odisha and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh after 10 PM until further notice.

In a special warning issued by the IMD, Odisha is under the red alert zone due to chances of rain thundershowers that are likely to take place in most areas of the state on October 10 and October 11. IMD had instructed the government authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure no casualties. Cyclone ‘Titli’ was over the Bay of Bengal after which it has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm pm Wednesday morning, now it is heading towards the coast. Odisha government has also ordered to shut down the schools and colleges in four districts of the state that are most prone to be hit by the cyclone.

Furthermore, turbulent wind speed is very likely to increase slowly and gradually in the state, gusting from 100-110 kmph to 125 kmph, along with the coasts of South Odisha & adjoining districts of north Andhra Pradesh, Wednesday evening onwards.  Cyclone Titli was apparent to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the noon after which it would have crossed the eastern coast of India between Andhra Pradesh’s Kalingapatnam and Odisha’s Gopalpur by Thursday morning. Next three days are going to crucial for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
