Cyclone Vayu: BIG TWIST as fair chance Cyclone Vayu may drift away from Gujarat's Saurashtra coast and just skirt Porbandar', says Skymet in latest update

In a new twist in the course of the Cyclone Vayu, the Indian Meteorological Department has alerted that the Cyclone will not hit Gujarat and may drift away from the Saurashtra coast.

In a new twist in course of Cyclone Vayu, Indian Meteorological Department has alerted that Cyclone will t hit Gujarat and may drift away from Saurashtra coast. Furrmore, as per Skymet Wear, Vayu is tracking rth-rthwestwards and very severe cyclone may just skirt Gujarat coast near Porbandar, close to Dwarka or Okha coast on its journey.

On its journey, Vayu's effect will be seen on coastal regions as re will be heavy wind speed and heavy rain, said Marama Mohanty, scientist at India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedab.

Cyclone Vayu LIVE Updates: Gujarat Prepares For 'Very Severe Cyclonic Storm', Set To Make Landfall On Thursday Morning

Very severe cyclone Vayu which at present is Category 2 storm may weaken into a Category 1 storm. However, system would be packed with winds to tune of 135 kmph to 145 kmph gusting up to 175 kmph may cause dam.

On Wednesday,  Airports Authority of India anunced that flight operations will remain suspended at five airports in Gujarat for 24 hours from midnight Wednesday to minimise dam to airport infrastructure and to avoid inconvenience to passengers due to cyclone.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 40 rescue & relief teams along coastal areas of Gujarat and Diu in wake of anticipated cyclonic storm Vayu for rescue & relief operations.
