Nirbhaya case: Swati Maliwal expresses happiness over SC dismissing convict's review plea

DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Wednesday expressed her happiness to the Supreme Court rejecting the review petition of a convict in the Nirbhaya case.

Delhi Commission for Women's Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Wednesday expressed her happiness after Supreme Court rejected review petition of convicted rapist Akshay Singh involved in Nirbhaya case. Taking to Twitter she expressed her hope that after top court rejected review plea of accused rapists, Patiala House Court will soon issue a death warrant for all four convicts. 

Demanding immediate hanging of 4 convicts, DCW Chairperson wrote, "Hope w Patiala House Court will immediately remove death warrant of all four killers! Those four murderers should be hanged immediately!"

SC Rejects Review plea

On Wednesday, Supreme Court bench comprising Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan and AS Bopanna dismissed review petition of Akshay Singh, one of convicts in Nirbhaya rape and murder case. This comes after apex court heard arguments of AP Singh, counsel for accused and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who argued for Delhi police. bench stated that all aspects of case h alrey been dealt with by trial court, High Court and SC. apex court contended that re was merit in plea.

In his review plea, on p 16 point D stated, "Air quality of Delhi is...like a gas chamber and t only this water of Delhi NCR...is also full of poison...life is going to be short, n why death penalty?" On p 15 at point C, Nirbhaya murderer and rapist wrote, "Why death penalty when is reducing? In Kalyug, has come down to 50-60 years." On p 20, he remarked, " prosecutrix was raped by a minimum of two men and that she does t remember intercourse after that. It is, refore, unsafe to proceed on assumption that all six people on bus committed rape."
