'Dedicated Towards Duties’: Himanta Burns Midnight Oil In Service of Assam

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has been burning the midnight oil highlighted the state's evolving work culture in a video shared on Saturday. In the video posted on Instagram, Sarma noted that despite arriving in Guwahati from Delhi at 7 a.m. after attending Rajya Sabha ticket selection, Assam Chief Secretary along with other officer was still working diligently at 11:30 p.m.

Sarma remarked, "You’ll be surprised to know it's now 11:30 p.m., and the Chief Secretary of Assam is still sitting in front of me. Yes, even the Chief Secretary of Assam is here, working till 11:30 p.m. We still have another hour or so of work ahead of us." He attributed this dedication to a significant improvement in work culture among the state's officers, expressing gratitude for their commitment.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference on Saturday in Silchar, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to a question related to the migration of Bangladeshi Hindus to India, saying that the Hindus haven’t tried to migrate from Bangladesh and attempted to enter India since the neighbouring country was hit by unrest. He asserted that not a single Hindu tried to enter Indian territory, even during the deadly anti-quota protests and when the minorities were being allegedly targeted and killed. However, he also claimed that the Muslims from Bangladesh were trying to cross the border amidst deadly turmoil in their country.

Chief Minister Himanta said, “Hindus are staying and fighting in Bangladesh. In the last month, not a single Hindu person has been detected trying to enter India.”

He emphasized that Muslims from the neighbouring country were attempting to cross over to seek employment in India’s textile sector. “35 Muslim infiltrators have been arrested in the past month. they are trying to enter, but those coming are not for Assam, but to go to Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore to work in the textile industry,” the CM claimed.

“We have requested our prime minister to impress upon the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus,” he added.
