Delhi Assembly first in India to host Commonwealth Youth Parliament
The Commonwealth event in Delhi is being organised to enlighten the youth and encourage their participation in legislative procedures and decision making

In a first, Delhi Assembly along with Lok Sabha will host a three-day Commonwealth Youth Parliament here starting from vember 25. Talking to reporters, Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel said 47 participants from 24 Commonwealth countries will participate in event. Eleven participants will be from India. Mock assembly sessions will be held in House of Delhi Legislative Assembly, Goel said. It is for first time that an Indian Legislature is hosting Commonwealth Youth Parliament and event has generated a lot of interest amongst youth, he said. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be chief guest at event to be inaugurated on Monday.

Commonwealth Youth Parliament will an opportunity to demonstrate to youth role and purpose of legislature as an institution for democracy and good governance, he said.
