Delhi building collapse:1 dead, several injured in Seelampur incident

A four-storey under-construction building collapsed in Northeast Delhi's Seelampur area Monday night. One person was killed and several injured in the incident.

A four-storey under-construction building collapsed in Northeast Delhi's Seelampur area Monday night. A 22-year-old girl was killed and several others injured in the Delhi building collapse incident which took place in Seelampur, an official said. The information about the Delhi building collapse was received at 11.29 pm following which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, a senior Fire Service official said. Several people are feared trapped under the debris, he said, adding that the rescue operation is underwater. The official said that the girl, who was identified as Heena, died in the incident.

Six persons have so far taken out of the debris, he added. According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place when some people had gathered on the ground floor of the under-construction building in Seelampur to attend a function organised by some locals. "My sister was killed in the incident," Danish, Heena's brother, confimed to the media about the casualties in the Delhi building collapse. See pictures from the Delhi building collapse below:

Building Collapse near Mumbai:

A four-storey building collapsed in Shanti Nagar area of Bhiwandi, Thane in Maharashtra in the wee hours of Saturday. The death toll in the building collapse near Mumbai has risen to two, police said. Five are critically injured. The deceased have been identified as Siraj Ahmed Ansari (27) and Aakhib Ansari (22).  The injured -- Abdul Aziz Syed Mullani (55), Javed Salim Sheikh (34), Narendra Bawane (35), Devidas Wagh (34) and Sufiyan Abdul Hasan (23) -- were shifted to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi for treatment.
