Delhi HC asks Delhi govt to procure straw from the neighbouring states
The Delhi HC on Thursday asked the AAP Government to procure straws from neighbouring states. The HC also said the move will help to curb crop burning

Delhi High Court asked Aam Ami Party government to procure straw from neighbouring states. order is passed for spreing it under newly planted saplings in Central Ridge area of national capital to ensure retention of soil and water re as well as reduce crop burning.

Move will help in reduction of burning of straws
Justice Najmi Waziri of Delhi High Court, said such a move would ensure a reduction in burning of straw which is one of major contributors to air pollution in Delhi and would also help to generate good topsoil in central ridge area which in many parts has rocky soil which is t good for planting saplings. This direction came in during hearing of a contempt case in which a private company was ordered to plant 1.4 lakh saplings worth Rs 80 lakh in Central Ridge area for breaching judicial orders. judicial orders demanded t to manufacture and sell diabetes medication under brand names used by pharma major Merck Sharp and Dohme (MSD). During hearing in matter, forest department told court that re was very little topsoil in central ridge area and it was rocky and refore, t suitable for planting saplings in such huge numbers. Subsequently, court suggested use of pdy or wheat straw, which is discarded and burned after harvest, for spreing under saplings.

Apart from this direction, court also issued various or directions for ensuring water supply for watering saplings, tagging m and to display ir varieties and numbers. court also issued directions to Delhi government with regard to augmenting strength of forest department.

Delhi’s 7 point plan to curb pollution
This decision comes after Delhi CM anunced a 7-point on Friday named ‘Parali Prushan Action Plan’ that includes steps to curb pollution. He also said that pollution in Delhi is down by 25% and Delhi is only city to achieve that. CM also said that city has to prepare for smog due to crop burning and winters.

NGT rejects plea challenging odd-even scheme
NGT (National Green Tribunal) on Wednesday, rejected a plea that challenged Delhi decision of AAP government to implement odd-even ro rationing scheme in national capital from vember 4-15. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that odd-even scheme was a part of a seven-point 'Parali Prushan' action plan that also includes mass distribution of anti-pollution masks, mechanised sweeping and water sprinkling on ros, tree plantation, and special plans for 12 pollution hotspots in Delhi.
