Delhi High Court adjourns hearing on Seelampur violence until Tuesday

Delhi HC adjourned the hearing in the Seelampur violence case for Tuesday also issued a show-cause notice to the jail authorities as they failed to respond

A Delhi court on December 30, journed hearing in Seelampur violence case for Tuesday. While journing case, ditional Session Judge Gurdeep Singh, also issued a show-cause tice to jail authorities as y h t responded to medical reports of accused who were detained during violent protests in Delhi's Seelampur a few weeks ago.

lawyer, representing an accused named Sajid, h told court that his client was t a part of protests and that his name is t registered in FIR. "Influential people are t arrested because of ir status even though ir names are re in FIR," he ded.

A counsel, representing ar accused named Daniyal, told court that re is CCTV foot to claim that his client took part in violence and raised questions on  police for charging him under section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code.

Judge Gurdeep Singh asked why accused were charged under mentioned section to which complainant said that y threw petrol bombs at police officers due to which two officers suffered injuries.

An anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest erupted in East Delhi's Seelampur area on December 17 and took a violent turn. According to police sources, protesters gared at around 1.15 pm and marched towards Seelampur. sources stated that initially, protests were peaceful, however, it took a violent turn, forcing police to use tear gas shells to disperse protesters.
