Delhi Police: 'Lawyers forcefully entered Lock-Up manhalded officers'

A sudden scuffle broke out between lawyers and police at Tis Hazari Court in Delhi on Saturday. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (rth) Harender Singh commented on scuffle between Delhi police and lawyers at Tis Hazari Court and said, scuffle was only over parking, between jawans of 3rd Battalion and lawyers. Some or lawyers joined too, y wanted to enter inside lockup as y sought revenge.

But police began dousing fire with help of drinking water inside but smoke caused suffocation inside and due to this y had to make a human chain and shifted all prisoners to a different lockup. DCP furr stated that by being inside we tried to save lives of t only police personnel but prisoners also. DCP Singh stated that members of police force sustained injuries too.
In a statement, Delhi Police on Saturday said, "In protest, a large number of advocates of Tis Hazari Court assembled near Lock-Up. CCTV foot examined so far has shown that lawyers forcefully entered Lock-Up and started manhandling police officials on duty."

Police vehicles set ablaze
Delhi Police said that senior officials who were trying to counsel advocates were beaten mercilessly. "Furr, y also set on fire some police vehicles. When y stormed police lockup, for safety of under trial prisoners and in self-defence police has to resort to firing aiming in air," statement furr read. " circumstances of gunshot injury to lawyer are being furr investigated with help of CFSL team," Delhi Police said. An investigation has been ordered into incident which took place at Tis Hazari. Delhi Police has handed over investigation to SIT crime branch.

Lawyers beat up a journalist
A journalist was also hit by lawyers at Tis Hazari Court. incident occurred while journalist was covering scuffle between lawyers and Delhi Police, reports state. journalists present at spot was being stopped by lawyers from covering incident and ir mobile phones were being snatched.
