New Delhi: As the national capital faces the double whammy of a water crisis and an extreme heatwave, record-breaking temperatures are worsening the city's severe water shortage. The relentless heat has left residents struggling, with many relying on private water tankers due to the dwindling supply.

However, amid the extreme heat and water scarcity which demands immediate action from the Delhi government, political disputes over the crisis persist, leaving the city's residents in a dire predicament. Despite the urgency of the situation, AAP leaders were seen showing very little concern.

On Tuesday, as Republic TV confornted AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh about the water crisis, the leader chose to evade all questions on the issue. Instead, he attempted to shift the focus to ongoing NEET scam—which Republic TV and Republic World have been extensively covering.

He said, “Don't you want to ask questions about the NTA? Are you not worried about the paper leak? What is your question on that matter? Let's talk on the NEET matter."

The AAP leader was also seen heckling and shoving away Republic TV reporter's mic on being asked about the city's acute water crisis

Political Tussle over Delhi Water Crisis

The political turmoil surrounding Delhi's water shortage has escalated. The ruling AAP has accused the BJP of intentionally causing the crisis to distress the public. Meanwhile, Congress and BJP members staged 'matka phod' protests, blaming the Arvind Kejriwal government for the situation. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP deliberately orchestrated the water crisis to deprive Delhi's residents of water.

"I am saying there is a BJP-sponsored water crisis. BJP wants no water for Delhi people and there are doing all conspiracies to ensure it," Singh alleged.

He said the Delhi gets water from Haryana, and when the BJP-ruled state does not give the required water, it leads to a shortage.

"We are not getting water as per our demand. When we request the Haryana government, they don't listen. We request the LG but he doesn't do the required work," he claimed.

Several areas in the national capital have been reeling under a water crisis for weeks, with little to no supply, and shortage being met by private water tankers.
