The Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday, said that Delhiites have managed to slay dengue and bring the pollution levels under control in the capital city. He also urged all the residents of the capital to defeat "Raavan-like forces" in the society this Dussehra. The Luv Kush Ram Leela committee organised the event of burning Ravana’s effigies in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal spoke at this event near the Red Fort and signified the triumph of good over evil on this occasion.
Kejriwal fired Ram-like arrow
Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal fired an arrow to burn the effigies of demon king Ravana at the event. He subsequently also fired the same at Ravana’s son and brother Meghnad and Kumbhakarna as well. Apart from talking about Dengue, Kejriwal also reiterated that the Delhiites have managed to bring pollution levels under control. Actress Bhumi Pednekar was also present on the occasion. Kejriwal took to Twitter and posted pictures of himself firing the arrow. Hist tweet translates to, “The way Lord Rama killed Ravana, similarly we have to kill the Ravanlike powers of our country and society. Happy Dussehra to all of you. Jai Shree Ram!”
Kejriwal’s statements at the event
At the event organised at the Red Fort, the Delhi CM said, "We have to defeat Raavan-like forces in the society. Doctors were saying dengue will increase this season but through our campaign against dengue, people of the national capital slayed the deadly dengue and brought it under control. Pollution has started reducing in Delhi and it has reduced by 25%. On the eve of Diwali, the Delhi government has planned a laser show at Connaught Place, and I invite all of you to come there”.
Kejriwal thanks Centre
CM Arvind Kejriwal, in an earlier press conference, thanked the Central government for its efforts to curb pollution in the national capital. He said, “This (reduction in pollution levels) has not been only due to the efforts of the Delhi government. I want to thank all the agencies involved in the efforts. This has been due to the efforts of the Delhi government. We want to thank the Central government for their efforts, MCDs for their efforts. The Supreme Court passed so many orders which we followed religiously."
