Denied VIP access at toll plaza, tourist opens fire on Shimla-Kalka highway, detained

Shimla: A tourist was detained on Saturday for allegedly firing shots into the air when his vehicle was denied access to the VIP lane at a toll plaza on the Shimla-Kalka national highway, police said. The incident was reported at the Sanwara toll barrier near Dharampur in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, reported news agency PTI.
Toll plaza staff informed the police that an argument broke out between them after the tourist sought a discount after being stopped from using the VIP lane.
According to the police, he then fired shots into the air. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Solan SP Gaurav Singh confirmed that the tourist was detained thereafter.
CCTV footage is being scanned to gather more information about the incident, he said.
