Deve Gowda: NRC implementation will strain our relations with neighbouring countries

Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda said that if NRC is implemented, it will create problems internally and also strain our relations with neighbouring countries

Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Thursday said that if National Register of Citizens (NRC) is implemented across country, n it will strain India's relationship with neighbouring countries. Speaking to media Gowda said, " government is t taking into consideration consequences of NRC implementation, y want to implement NRC across nation. If it gets implemented, it will t only create problems in country but also strain our relations with neighbouring countries."

"Look at Assam, what has happened re. So re is a need to learn from bitter experiences." Deve Gowda said.  

On previous day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah h said in Rajya Sabha that all citizens of India, irrespective of religion will figure in NRC. He ded that NRC is different from Citizenship Amendment Bill. "NRC has such provisions which says that certain religions will be excluded from it. All citizens of India, irrespective of religion will figure in NRC list.  NRC is different from Citizenship Amendment Bill," Amit Shah said while dressing Rajya Sabha in Delhi.

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Presh Dinesh Sharma has stated that infiltration is a curse to nation. Backing NRC he ded that NRC is a tool to fight against infiltration and protect rights of citizens in country. Sharma praised Home Minister Amit Shah’s vision stating that he has a long-term vision for country.

Union Minister and BJP leer Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi slammed critics of NRC and said that a few people are trying to misle and incite fear among people. Assuring people, Naqvi said that citizens of country who have been living for s don't need to fear implementation of NRC. Speaking of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee who has been resisting NRC, Naqvi said that NRC when implemented across nation, will be implemented in West Bengal too as it is a part of nation and t separate from or states.

Baba Ramdev on Thursday has come out in support of National Register of Citizens (NRC) which is set to be implemented across country. Urging t to politicise NRC, Ramdev said that it is important for security of country. "An illegal foreign citizen is a major threat to security of country. It is very important to identify and weed out se people," Ramdev ded, "It should t be seen with a political lens. It is our duty to maintain unity of country. politics should happen on this."
