As many cities in India gasp for a breath of clean air, the devotees and priests in Varanasi were seen covering the face of the deity Shiva with a mask.

As many cities in India gasp for a breath of clean air, devotees and priests in Varanasi were seen covering face of deity Shiva with a mask. This comes as many cities and towns in Uttar Presh, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi have been suffering from an incessant spell of heavy air pollution. air pollution is a result of multiple disruptions to environment and nature ranging from smog, stubble burning, cracker bursting, and or things. Although government in Delhi is trying to curb air pollution by reintroducing Odd-Even and abstaining from cracker bursting and construction activities, PM2.5 level in air seems is becoming uncontrollable day by day. 

Devotees cover lingam with a mask 

Supreme Court of India h banned all construction activities in National Capital Region as y declared a public health emergency in region till vember 5. While all this is happening all over country priests and devotees of Lord Shiva in Varanasi were seen covering lingam of deity with a mask. One of prominent forms that lord Shiva is worshipped in is a lingam structure. This is a black stone that is erected on surface called Yoni.

In pictures released by news ncy ANI, it is seen that lingam of Lord Shiva was covered with a mask. priests are standing behind lingam donning a mask mselves. A signboard outside Shiva temples says, “Keep air pollution in Control”. devotees of Lord Shiva said that since air pollution in city is on a rise re was a need to protect lord Shiva too. Citing this reason, devotees ded that y have put a mask on lingam to protect “Bhole Baba” from “poisous air”. y asserted that y have faith in ir god and if he is safe from polluted air, lord will keep m safe too.
