DHCBA urges HC to direct police to allow advocates to travel to Delhi from NCR

 The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has urged the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to direct the police to allow advocates who reside in the NCR to cross Delhi border during the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus.

  Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has urged Chief Justice of Delhi High Court to direct police to allow vocates who reside in NCR to cross Delhi border during lockdown imposed to contain spre of coronavirus.

DHCBA, in a letter to Chief Justice D N Patel, said that a large number of vocates practicing in high court and district courts here reside in ida, Ghaziab, Gurgaon and Faridab and y are unable to travel to ir offices situated in Delhi.

letter, signed by DHCBA President and senior vocate Mohit Mathur, said those lawyers have access to ir files, records and books as y are lying in ir offices in Delhi and many of m do t have facility of video conferencing or books and commentaries at ir residence to effectively participate in hearings held by courts.

“To assist courts in hearings being held during lockdown period and to enable litigant public to completely access justice, it is imperative that such vocates are permitted free movement into and out of Delhi upon production of valid identity cards issued by any court annexed bar association of Delhi / bar council with which vocates are enrolled,” letter stated.

It said similar facilities have been given to Delhi Police personnel and sought direction to Delhi Police to take up matter with ir counterparts in Uttar Presh and Haryana.
