DMK spokesperson A Saravanan raked up a controversy with his remarks on Kashmir in the light of the abrogation of Article 370 by the Centre. During the Debate on Republic TV with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on August 12, A Saravanan had claimed that Kashmir was 'never an integral part of India'. However, rather than condemning his party leader's remarks, DMK chief MK Stalin on Monday took to Twitter and called for a meeting of MPs from like-minded parties to demand the release of Kashmir political leaders.
In a tweet, Stalin has called in parliamentarians from the Opposition parties at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi on August 22 to raise the demand for the release of detained Kashmiri political leaders.

DMK leader attempts clarification
While during the Live Debate, DMK's Saravanan said that Kashmir was never an integral part of India, triggering the other panelists on the show, the Stalin-led party went on to issue a clarification alleging that his words were twisted.
In a statement, A Saravanan claimed that he was trying to say "India was never an integral part of India" which was taken as "India is never an integral part of India". He further claimed that he was not given a chance to explain it clearly since he was not allowed to speak, adding that other panellists targeted him.
However, while the heated debate was on, Arnab Goswami said that he wished to 'engage with Saravanan one-on-one,' giving the DMK representative an opportunity to clarify his stance on Kashmir. But he chose to walk out of the debate mid-way, maintaining that he was being 'targeted with strong words.'
Netizens fume at A Saravanan
Netizens went on to fume over DMK spokesperson A Saravanan's contentious 'Kashmir not an integral part of India' claim on Republic TV's Debate with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on August 12, who targeted the Stalin-led party for its "anti-India" stand on Kashmir.
