According to official document, government of India prohibits “production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, stor and vertisements of electronic cigarettes in interest of public health and protect people from harm and for matters connected rewith or incidental reto.”
What does ordinance say?
document explains that India is a signatory to World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control that was opted in Geneva in 2003. It also speaks about decision of Convention to urge parties to consider prohibiting or regulating e-cigarettes or Electronic Nicotine Delivery.

It furr says that because devices are injurious to health and have a negative impact on public health, it is “expedient” to prohibit its use. ordinance also said that even though parliament is t in session, President finds it satisfactory to take action, considering given circumstances.

It says that it shall be called “Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Ordinance, 2019 and shall come to force at once. It also goes on to explain various uses of product that are w banned by government.

According to ordinance, E-cigarettes, w, cant be vertised through any audio or visual medium. It cant be distributed by way of samples, wher free or orwise by any person-individually, or a group of individuals, a firm, a Hindu Undivided Family, a trust, a limited liability partnership or any co-operative society. Furrmore, it’s export and import is w prohibited, meaning that it cant be taken out or brought into country anymore.

ordinance also mentions proper way of disposing of any remaining stock of E-cigarettes by preparing a list and handing it over to nearest authorised officer, who n will be responsible for its disposal by way of law. It also gives authorised officer, power to make a search at any place if and when officer thinks that ordinance is being compromised.
E-Cigarettes deemed as harmful for health
government of India h, on Wednesday, banned electronic cigarettes due to growing fears over health risks that vaping caused in long run, sending shares of conventional cigarette makers soaring.
Union cabinet, yesterday, while prohibiting manufacture, import, sale, distribution and vertisements of e-cigarettes, declared its use a cognizable offence. Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister said that products are harmful to health.
