EAM Jaishankar's comments on 'Howdy Modi' event and India-US relations

Ministry of External Affairs conducted a press conference on Tuesday to mark the completion of 100 days of the new government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, 'India has achieved a lot in 100 days. Its ability and appetite to shape the global agenda is very much more than what it was before.' In the meeting, the External Affairs Ministry discussed at length on how India's achievements on foreign diplomacy and its relations with other countries have strengthened.

'India-US relations have come a long way': S Jaishankar 

During the conference, MEA also took questions on PM Modi's upcoming visit to the United States of America. Responding to Howdy Modi, S Jaishankar said,

'India-US relations have come a long way, look at the quality of the relationship the diaspora is, of course, the forte and in many ways, somewhat unique aspect of our foreign policy and that is underlined by what is coming up very soon in the United States, which is a big diaspora event in partnership with our Indian-American community.'

President Trump expected to attend Howdy Modi

US President Donald Trump is also expected to attend the upcoming Howdy Modi event happening in Texas. With US President Donald Trump expected to attend the event organised by the Indian Community, it is a testament to the growing relations between both the countries are today.

"I regard this as a great achievement of the Indian-American community. If today, there's an event of this size and you have Trump coming there, I think it shows where that community has reached, how it is regarded in US, and the respect it commands there," EAM said.

'Howdy, Modi!' is so far believed to be one of the largest events in the US, to welcome a foreign head of government. Over 50,000 people have already registered to attend the mega 'Howdy, Modi!' event being hosted by the Texas India Forum.
