Earthquake advisory issued in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district
An earthquake advisory has been issued in Doda district of J&K on Monday, after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake had hit Doda and Kishtwar districts on Sunday.

An earthquake visory has been issued in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Doda Deputy Commissioner Sagar D Doifode has issued visory under which all hes of educational institutions and offices located in Doda have been informed to conduct mock drills for next two days at some designated time during day, said officials. visory was issued after a 4.9-magnitude earthquake hit Doda and Kishtwar districts of Chenab Valley region on Sunday.

According to visory, "After a mock alarm, all officers and students shall move to safer places outside building lines and electric lines, particularly in open grounds and take shelter at such places in buildings where earthquake tremors can cause least harm to individuals such as under door beam, corners of room and under desk and table." It furr stated that all sectoral and field officers shall keep abreast ir respective district officers regarding day to day position.

Earthquake hits Doda and Kishtwar districts
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake h hit Doda and Kishtwar districts of Chenab Valley region in Jammu on Sunday. As per reports, earthquake happened around 8 in morning and lasted for a few seconds. This led to people panicking, and people rushed out of ir homes. According to officials, earthquake was at latitude 33 degrees rth and longitude 67.1 East. It was reported that re has been casualty or dam to property anywhere. "As of w, re is immediate report of any casualty or dam to property," Doda SSP Mumtaz Ahmed said.

Two strong tremors in a span of 30 hours, that shook Bherwah Valley, parts of Doda, Kishtwar and Bhalessa, t only triggered panic among people but also brought back scary memory of 2013 when entire belt in general and Bherwah Valley in particular experienced a series of earthquakes. "Although Jammu and Kashmir falls under danger zone and re is a possibility of tremors, body can predict exact location or timing of earthquake," said seismic expert Professor G M Bhat. As per statement given by Oregon State University, new geologic mapping in Himalayan mountains of Kashmir suggests that region is ripe for a major earthquake that could endanger lives of as many as a million people.
