Surat:  Earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 on Richter scale hit Mahesana, Gujarat at 10:15 PM IST.

epicenter was located 13 kilometers southwest of Patan, in Gujarat's Banaskantha district. re is no news of loss of life or property.

“It's a small to moderate earthquake, typically originating from Patan area due to its small faults,” an IRS official said.

Institute of Seismological Research (ISR) in Gandhinagar recorded earthquake's coordinates at a latitude of 23.742 and longitude of 72.065.

epicenter of earthquake has a depth of 10 KM. 

state has suffered nine major earthquakes in past 200 years including devastating earthquake of January 26, 2001, in Kutch district, as per data provided by Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).
