Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hits Arunachal Pradesh, tremors felt in North-East
A minor earthquake of 5.5 magnitude was felt in the North-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday afternoon. The epicentre of the quake was at the depth of 16.8 km and was located 64 km northeast of Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, as per the US Geological Survey. Tremors of the quake were also felt in Assam.

Update at 4:44 PM: Arunachal Presh government issues statement:
"5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at 2:52 PM. epicentre of earthquake was at East Kameng district. Two aftershocks of quake were also felt at 3:04 PM and 3:21 PM in Kurung Kumey district. dam has been reported."

Update at 15:50: China has attempted to use earthquake to needle India over its border, with state-run CGTN reporting epicentre as Shannan in Tibetan automous region.

This has come amid floods situation in Assam that has submerged over 30 districts in state. worst affected areas are Lakhimpur, Majuli, Kaziranga, Morigaon, Barpeta, and Nalbari. death toll of people owing to situation is over 20 people. Over 50 lakh people have been affected because of state. government has set up over 183 relief camp for people affected by floods in state. Over one lakh people are living in relief camps currently.
