EC Takes Serious Note of Complaints Against Jharkhand BJP, Directs to Delete Social Media Post
Taking a serious note of the complaints filed by Congress and JMM, who alleged that Jharkhand BJP unit was involved in spreading a “false narrative”, the EC.

Ranchi: Taking a serious note of complaints filed by Congress and JMM, who alleged that Jharkhand BJP unit was involved in spreing a “false narrative”, Election Commission of India (ECI), on Sunday, directed state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to immediately take down said social media post from its social media platform. ECI also directed Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand to serve notice to party seeking an explanation over alleged violation of poll code during state assembly election.
According to reports, Election Commission of India on November 17 took a "serious note" of complaints filed by Congress and JMM against Jharkhand unit of BJP over ir post on social media. JMM and Congress alleged that opposition party in Jharkhand was spreing a "false narrative" against a religious minority and demanded blocking of party's Facebook and X accounts.

Taking note of complaint filed, EC directed Jharkhand CEO to immediately direct BJP Jharkhand to take down said post from party social media platforms along with a notice to explain alleged violation of provisions of MCC in said post.
Not only this, CEO has been directed to immediately take action in matter and in coordination with designated authority in state under section 79(3)(b) of IT act, shall get objectionable posts removed from social media platforms expeditiously.

complaint, filed by Party General Secretary (Communications) Jairam Ramesh, accused BJP of posting a video that spres a "false narrative" against a religious community. Congress also sought an order for removal of all "communal, divisive, and malicious" videos shared by party on its social media platforms.
