ECI on a two-day visit to Haryana prior to Assembly elections

Ahead of the Haryana Assembly Elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will visit the state on October 8 to monitor the state's administration and security machinery prior to the polls on October 21. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora along with election commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra will be visiting the poll-bound state to ensure the preparedness of the state for the upcoming state elections. 

ECI to visit poll-bound Haryana for two days

During the two-day visit, CEC Arora along with election commissioners Lavasa and Chandra will meet several stakeholders, including the state's chief electoral officer, police and the representatives of various political parties to ensure a smooth election in Haryana. The Commission will also meet the contesting political parties on Wednesday, an official statement said. Post the meeting with political parties' representatives, the commission will hold another meeting with the state's chief electoral officer and nodal officers in the evening. The Election Commission will also have a meeting with the divisional commissioners of the state, district election officers, the additional director general of police, the inspector generals of police of various ranges and superintendents of police to discuss various issues pertaining to the elections in the state, on October 10. Haryana Chief Secretary Keshni Anand Arora is also scheduled to meet the Election Commission.

Haryana to go for elections on October 21

Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on October 21 whereas the results will be declared on October 24. A total number of 1,168 are set to contest for the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. Meanwhile, prior to the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kickstart the BJP campaign in the State from October 14. PM Modi, the designated star campaigner of the BJP, will be addressing four rallies across Haryana over two days whereas, in a big setback to the Congress party ahead of the polls, its former state chief Ashok Tanwar resigned from the party on October 5.
