Eco-friendly roads: LDA constructs roads using 8-10% plastics mxed with coal tar in Lucknow, as a pilot green experiment
For the first time, plastic wastes are being used to build roads. Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is constructing a road using plastic waste from Gomti Nagar Police Station to Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

Boosting eco-friendly practices, Luckw Development Authority (LDA) has constructed a ro using plastic waste from Gomti Nagar Police Station to Indian Institute of Manment (IIM) in city. This is first time such a move has been done. Speaking to ANI, LDA chief Engineer Indushekhar Singh has shared that 8-10% of plastic waste was mixed with coal tar to increase durability. He also ded that plastics used were less than 50 microns in weight.
Singh also said that LDA has followed guidelines of Central Ro Research Institute (CRRI) in ro construction. He ded that on World Environment Day, y declared that y would be using plastic for ro construction in future.

He ded that LDA will do more research on pilot experiment done on construction of above-mentioned ro in next two years to kw if re was any scope of improvement. LDA's initiative was inspired by success of ros in many foreign countries. In India too, many civic bodies have started ro construction using plastic waste in an environmental-friendly experiment.

Earlier on June 5, setting a benchmark for rest of India, Bancha vill of Betul, Mhya Presh has w completely shifted to using solar energy for cooking in place of wood, putting an end to an -old hazardous method of cooking. All 74 houses in vill use solar energy to cook via induction plates provided, reby using a safer and sustainable energy source.
