Environment panel recommends 8 Indian beaches for coveted Blue-Flag certification
Union Ministry of Environment has announced that for the first time ever, eight Indian beaches have been nominated for the coveted Blue-Flag certification.

Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has anunced that for first time ever, eight Indian beaches have been minated for coveted international eco-label 'Blue-Flag certification'. anuncement was me on Friday, September 18 on eve of International Coastal Clean-Up Day.

Simultaneous flag hoisting at eight beaches
As per reports, an eminent national panel composed of environmentalists and scientists decided on recommendations. beaches that have been minated this year include Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Daman and Diu, Kasarkod and Pubidri beach in Karnataka, Kapp in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Presh, Golden beach of Odisha, and Rhanagar beach in Andaman and Nicobar.
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javekar, who was present for anuncement via video conference, said "Clean beaches are a testimony of environment in coastal areas. issue of marine litter and oil spilling has caused disturbances to aquatic life and Government of India is undertaking various efforts for sustainable development of coastal regions”.

As per reports, event also h a flag hoisting ceremony at all eight beaches simultaneously with #IAMSAVINGMYBECH being hashtag for event. While virtual flag hoisting was done by ministry, physical flag hoisting at beaches was done by respective MLAs or Representatives of Beach Manment Committees (BMCs).

Union Environment Secretary RP Gupta said, "High standards are being maintained to clean beaches to keep environment safe and in next four to five years 100 more beaches will be cleaned”.
