EU team briefed on J&K situation, Pakistan's PoK atrocities: Sources

As PM Narendra Modi addressed the 28-member Kashmir delegation from the European Parliament, sources said they were briefed by NSA Doval about situation in PoK

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 28-member Kashmir delegation from the European Parliament, sources said that NSA Ajit Doval also briefed them for 40 minutes about developments in J&K and exposed Pakistan's propaganda. As per sources, EU lawmakers were informed about the ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC). Sources also said that the EU delegations are scheduled to met Kashmiri intellectuals, journalists, editors and politicians to understand the ground situation in the Kashmir valley. The EU delegation was also briefed over the situation in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), as per sources.

European Parliament delegation to visit Kashmir

A 28-member Kashmir delegation from the European Parliament visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday in his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The delegation will visit Kashmir on Tuesday. This is the first time that India has allowed an international delegation to visit Kashmir after revocation of Article 370 in August this year.

The Prime Minister's office released an official statement of the meeting. It said that the Prime Minister appreciated the importance the Parliamentarians their attachment to India. He said that India's relation with the European Union is based on shared interests and common commitment to democratic values. PM Modi also expressed his hope that the delegation's Jammu and Kashmir visit will be fruitful. He also mentioned the success of key programmes of the Government including Swachh Bharat and Ayushman Bharat.

PM Modi addresses EU team

Addressing the EU team, the Prime Minister emphasized the commitment of India toward ending terrorism in the world. "Urgent action must be taken against all those who support or sponsor terrorists or support such activities and organizations or use terrorism as a state policy. There should be zero tolerance for terrorism," Prime Minister said.
