Ex-J&K DGP Vaid says 70 ISI-trained terrorists were released by Centre, state govt in 1989
The ex-top cop said that Kashmiri Pandits were targeted in a systematic manner. "Kashmiri Pandits were targeted and tortured. They were murdered."

Former Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Shesh Paul Vaid blamed n-central and Jammu and Kashmir governments in 1989 for rise of terrorism in erstwhile state. He said first batch of 70 terrorists trained by ISI was arrested by J&K police but n government decided to release m which gave a boost to ISI's plan of turmoil in Jammu Kashmir.
"You can imagine how it would have impacted morale of police and security forces. Due to this, morale of terrorists skyrocketed. y gave terror training to youth of Jammu & Kashmir. people of Kashmir and country needs to know if decision was taken for ir benefit," he said.

In a tweet, Vaid said that some of notorious terrorists who were released include Mohammed Afzal Sheikh of Trehgam, Rafiq Ahmed Ahangar, Mohamm Ayub Najar, Farooq Ahmed Ganai, Ghulam Mohammed Gujri, Farooq Ahmed Malik, Nazir Ahmed Sheikh and Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Teli.

He said that Kashmiri Pandits were targeted in a systematic manner. "Kashmiri Pandits were targeted and tortured. y were murdered. Announcements were me against Kashmiri Pandits from Masjids. This created an atmosphere of fear in valley."
