What Triggered Fresh Violence in Manipur?

Manipur has been in news for violence and clashes between people of Kuki and Meitei tribes since May last year. While situation was in control for past few months, re has been a sudden increase in violence in state in past few days. violence in state was triggered by discovery of six bodies of Meitei people, in a decomposed state.

‘Govt Will Bear Brunt…’: Ultimatum to Central and State Governments

Following deaths of six individuals, fresh violence was reported and an ultimatum was also issued to both central and state governments. spokesperson of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI)-led civil society groups, Khuraijam Athouba said in a statement, “All MLAs and or leers must sit toger to take decisive action to resolve present crisis at earliest. If y do not take any decisive action that satisfies people, government will bear brunt of people's discontent and anger.”

National Investigation Agency has taken over three cases related to violence in Manipur. se incidents led to death of several people and disruption of public order. agency has taken over se cases from Manipur Police following a recent order issued by Home Ministry.

Centre will also be sending an ditional 50 CAPF companies comprising over 5,000 personnel to Manipur amid 'challenging' situation in state.

Internet Suspended, Curfew Imposed: Why Are Locals Protesting?

Violent protests were staged across state, in response to killing of se six Meitei women and children. Curfew for an indefinite period has been imposed and internet services have also been suspended in a total of seven districts of Manipur. Senior officials of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have also been dispatched yo state by Centre as a response to escalating violence. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be chairing a second security meet today.
