Breathing Issues, Fractures, Damaged Cars... Aftermath of Indian Cricket Team's Victory Parade
Fans complained of breathing issues due to suffocation and some suffered fractures after the Indian cricket team's Victory Parade for T20 WC win in Mumbai.

Mumbai: Lakhs of people gathered on the streets of Mumbai, to celebrate the T20 World Cup win with BCCI and the Indian Cricket Team. While videos of the victory parade are being watched across the country, some fans who attended the parade also talk about the problems they faced.
While the crowded roads looked lovely in the visuals of the victory parade in Mumbai, some people have a different story to tell. Breathing issues due to suffocation, fractures and damaged property were also part of the glorious event.
Aftermath of T20 World Cup Victory Parade in Mumbai
A few supporters fainted because of suffocation while quite a few also suffered fractures as Mumbai Police did its best to manage the sea of over three lakh people that turned up for the ICT Victory Parade before the Indian Cricket Team including captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli headed to Wankhede Stadium.
Roofs of Cars Damaged, Fans' Belongings Lost
In the videos of the victory parade that have been circulating on social media, people have climbed on top of trees and cars to capture the victorious cricket team. The aftermath shows how the roofs of multiple cars have been damaged and belongings of the supporters including bags and slippers are lying on the road.
‘Some People Fell on Each Other… It was very Unorganised'
An eyewitness, Ravi Solanki shared his experience with ANI and said, “I was coming from the office and came to know that the Indian team would reach here between 5 pm-6 pm which did not happen. The crowd kept increasing. The police were not managing the situation. People suddenly started shouting, after which some people fell on each other. It was very unorganised. There was nobody to manage. The incident happened between 8:15-8:45 pm.”
‘I Fell and Got Choked’, Fan Reveals his Experience
A victim, Rishab Mahesh Yadav, who fell unconscious during the victory parade told ANI, "The crowd was increasing. I fell and got choked. I became unconscious. I was taken to the nearby hospital, where I received treatment. I feel fine now. The crowd was more than necessary. There was mis-management. The police were also not alert."
The Victory Parade that started from the Marine Drive, went on till Wankhede Stadium where the team was felicitated by BCCI. Here, the office bearers presented a cheque of Rs 125cr to the team members for their win at the T20 World Cup 2024.
The team, whose arrival in the country was delayed from Barbados because of the Hurricane Beryl, first landed in New Delhi and had breakfast with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
