New Delhi: In a tragic incident, a woman buried her daughter 10 months ago in the Faridabad house they were living in, as per media reports.
A complaint from the father, living in Saudi Arabia, led the police to their home and a search followed, leading to an exhumation. The recovered body has been sent for postmortem, according to media reports.
The deceased girl was identified as Praveena (17). Her mother Anitha Begum, has been taken into police custody.
The police claimed that the father, Tahir, emailed them about her missing daughter. Asked how it took him that many months to complain, the police stated the man was not on good terms with his wife.
Anitha begum denies that she killed her daughter, telling police that the committed suicide. She, however, confessed to the police that she buried her in the house. The woman said she feared that the news of her suicide will bring a bad name to the family and buried her with help from two people.
Anita Begum told a news outlet that her daughter had affairs and used to run away. She stated that she locked her up and slep. Further, she claimed while they asleep, she committed suicide. She added that fearing defamation, she buried her in the house.
The police said further investigation will begin once the postmortem results come.
