Farmers' unions hopeful of ending agitation post Dec 5 talks, say 'made little progress'
Despite the 4th round of talks between Centre and farmers ending inconclusively, the representatives affirmed that the deliberations today were 'fruitful'

Despite fourth round of talks between Centre and farmers ending inconclusively on Thursday, representatives have affirmed that deliberations today were 'fruitful' and that 'little progress' was me. second round of discussions in three days lasted over 7 hours with next meeting being scheduled on Saturday. MoS Commerce and Industry Som Prakash, who was a part of meeting, has also expressed hopes of agitation ending after discussions on Saturday.
Speaking to ANI after meeting, Bharatiya Kisan Union Spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said, " Government has given indications over MSP. It seems that ir stand over MSP will be fine. talks have me little progress."

Meanwhile, Aza Kisan Sangharsh Committee member Harjinder Singh Tanda expressed hope of resolution in meeting day after. He asserted that three contentious laws are 'wrong' and that unions will 'put pressure' on government in next round of talks.
"Talks have me little progress. In half time, it seemed that today's meeting will yield result, in second half it seemed that re is a pressure of farmers agitation, on govt. Talks were held in a conducive atmosphere," Tanda told media after meeting today.

'Common points have been drawn'
Revealing that discussion took place in a good atmosphere, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar stated that Union government is willing to discuss unions' objections pertaining to points such as strengning APMC, regulating private Mandis, dispute resolution and MSP guarantee. Speaking to media, Union Minister reiterated his appeal to farmers to halt ir protests in view of prevailing winter and COVID-19 threat. On this occasion, Tomar reiterated that MSP system will continue in future too.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar remarked, " discussions took place in an amicable atmosphere. Both union representatives and government put forth ir position. Some common points have been drawn from earlier meetings and this meeting on which farmer unions are concerned about. From beginning, we are saying that Indian government is committed to welfare of farmers and will continue to do so in future. government does t have an ego."

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar, MoS Home Ministry Som Prakash and Union Minister Piyush Goyal are representing Centre in meeting today. farmers' agitation in national capital entered eight day on Thursday with peasants across country staging demonstrations in ir states to extend ir support against three contentious agrarian laws. Prior to discussions today, Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier today to discuss ongoing agitation in a bid to work out a peaceful solution. Chief Minister stated that he 'reiterated his opposition' in meeting with Home Minister and requested him to resolve issue as it affects ecomy of Punjab and security of nation.
