Farmers' unions state 'Bharat Bandh till 3 pm, will allow emergency services' amid protest

Addressing media ahead of Bharat Bandh call on Tuesday, farmers' representatives have reiterated that it will be a 'peaceful' bandh. Protesting against agriculture laws introduced by Centre amid discussions with Centre, farmers' unions have asserting that re will be a 'Chakka Jam' till 3 pm on Tuesday. Bandh call issued by farmers has also been supported by several Opposition parties as y demanded withdrawal of three contentious agrarian laws. 

" bandh will be observed whole day tomorrow. Chakka jam till 3 PM. It will be a peaceful bandh. We are firm on t allowing any political leaders on our st," said farmer leader Dr Darshan Pal at Delhi-Haryana Singhu border.

Emergency services allowed

Representatives of peasants have also stated that emergency services will be allowed during bandh tomorrow. y have also maintained that ir movement is apolitical and politicians will be allowed on st amid demonstrations. farmers have w been agitating for 12 days at borders of national capital in huge numbers.

impasse between Centre and farmers' unions continues as fifth round of talks on Saturday ended inconclusively. next round of deliberations has been scheduled for December 9. Addressing media on Saturday, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar asserted that Minimum Support Price system will continue, he expressed that Centre's willingness to address concerns regarding this. Moreover, Tomar stated that Union government will deliberate on all demands of farmers. He highlighted initiatives of Modi government for ensuring welfare of farmers and reiterated that it had intention of abolishing Agricultural Produce Marketing Committees.

Home Ministry issues advisory

Indian Tourist Transporters Assn (ITTA) & Delhi Goods Transport Association have also called for strike on December 8 in solidarity with farmers’ protest in Delhi. “51 unions decided to support farmers. Farming & transporting are like 2 sons of a far,” ANI quoted Satish Sherawat, President of ITTA. Meanwhile, Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to all states on Monday to maintain law & order situation during Bandh on Tuesday. In advisory, Ministry has asked states to make sure 'bandh' takes place peacefully and re are untoward incidents.
