Female resident doctor attacked by patients of COVID-19 wards in LNJP Hospital

Residents doctors of Maulana Azad Medical college deployed at Lok Nayak hospital wrote to the director of the latter hospital complaining of assault by patients

Resident doctors of Maulana Azad Medical college deployed at Lok Nayak hospital wrote to director of latter hospital complaining of assault by patients admitted in facility. Narrating ir ordeal doctors in letter pressed upon lack of security provided to m. 

According to letter, incident took place yesterday when complainant doctors were deployed in surgical ward number 5, where a patient began to hurl abuses and passed Lewd comments at a female doctor on duty when interrupted by ar medico patient gared or patients in ward and started threatening staff on duty. 

Soon situation aggravated and doctors were forced to run for ir lives. “ healthcare workers had to run inside duty room and hide, while or patient and mob with him tried to break open door,” letter read.

Furr underlining laps in security letter added, "On contacting by phone at 5.30 pm, floor in-charge Dr Vivek Sachan and Dr Azam Mohammed was t reachable. He received information by Whatsapp and only gave commands to doctors stuck in DDR. He did t reach ward despite assault situation, neir did he ensure that security reached ward. He igred crisis calls of residents and left m in jeopardy. CMO on duty did t pick up crisis calls from doctors and when approached by residents she diverted matter to security officer posted at casualty."

" concerned on-duty security officer refused to accompany residents who repeatedly informed him about an ongoing crisis. security guard and police officer posted at surgical block did t respond even after seeing and hearing security alarms on 5th floor. Marshalls and guards did t have PPEs supplied to m and refused to enter ward. Only after y were provided PPE by doctors did y enter war," letter stated furr.
