A fire broke out in the pharmacy department of Kolkata Medical college and hospital. Ten fire engines and Kolkata police have rushed to the spot. 250 people have been evacuated so far and all the patients are reported to be safe.

A fire broke out in the pharmacy department of Kolkata Medical college and hospital. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the ground floor of the hospital's main building where the dispensary is housed.Ten fire engines and Kolkata police have rushed to the spot. 250 people have been evacuated so far and all the patients are reported to be safe.
Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee has also reached the spot.

"I have been told that patients have been evacuated. We are looking into the incident," Mayor Sovan Chattopadhyay said.

Earlier on Tuesday night, a fire broke out at the kitchen of a hotel in central Kolkata. The incident took place around 8.55 pm in the kitchen of the Roy & Roy hotel in the Bowbazar police station limits. There was no report of any casualty or anybody being trapped, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.
Five fire tenders took about half-an-hour to douse the flames. The cause of the fire and extent of damage are yet to be ascertained, the officer said.

The incidents of fire came hours after a high intensity crude bomb blast rocked Kolkata on Tuesday, which injured 11 and killed one 7-year-old child. However, in a shocking development, even as the forensic team was yet to arrive at the Kolkata blast site, where a crude bomb had exploded earlier in the day, all circumstantial evidences were washed out. The shocking footage of the same showed men with broom cleaning up circumstantial evidences, dumping them into garbage bins and washing off the blood at site with water. The most astonishing detail of the event was, the clean-up happened even as the media crew and locals were present at the site. It is yet to be ascertained as to who ordered this clean-up even before the forensic team could examine the site.
This comes even as the TMC was escalating attack on the BJP and the RSS blaming them for the blast, which injured 11 and killed one 7-year-old child. Purnendu Basu, a minister in Mamata Banerjee government accused the RSS and BJP for the blast. Later, while speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Basu defended his allegation. , 'he can do what police cannot do'.
