Fires, green nets to help Vadodara Zoo animals beat the cold

zoo, spre over 45 acres, is situated close to Vishwamitri River, and winds emanating from re increase chill in a city alrey battling a cold wave over past few days, official said.

"Bonfires have been lit near leopard, tiger and lion enclosures Green nets have been installed around cs to protect animals and birds. Special food is being prepared to help se animals maintain body temperature," said Vodara Municipal Corporation Commissioner Nalin Uphyay.

" green net blocks cold wind and it is helpful to birds. Zoo animals are worst affected by temperature change as y have been displaced from ir natural habitat and kept in places where temperature might t be ideal for m," said Zoo Curator Pratyush Patankar.
