India on Saturday conducted successfully first night trial of 'Agni-II', its versatile surface-to-surface medium-range nuclear capable missile from Dr Abdul Kalam Island off Odisha coast, defence sources said. missile has a strike range of 2000 km, sources said soon after it blasted off from a mobile launcher at Launch Complex-4 of Integrated Test Range (ITR), sources said.

It was launched as a regular exercise undertaken by armed forces, he said. Saturday's test was carried out by specially formed Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of Army with logistic support from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). 'Agni-II' was developed by vanced Systems Laboratory along with or DRDO laboratories and integrated by Bharat Dynamics Limited, Hyderab, sources said. 'Agni-11' is part of Agni series of missiles which includes Agni-I with a 700 km range, Agni-III with a 3,000 km range, Agni-IV and Agni-V both having long-range capabilities.
