Pilibhit (UP): Police have registered a case against five members of a family for allegedly molesting and causing harm to a 26-year-old woman. The case was lodged at the Puranpur police station on Monday evening following a complaint filed by the victim.
The victim, originally from Nepal, claims she was brought to India 13 years ago under the false promise of employment. Once in the country, she was reportedly forced into marriage and converted to the religion of the accused.
During a local meeting organised by Hindu groups against religious conversion, the woman shared her story, explaining that one of the accused had befriended her while hiding his identity. She said that after being lured to India, she was subjected to repeated sexual assault and constant threats.
The victim recently spoke about her ordeal at a local meeting held by Hindu organizations against religious conversions.
She explained how the accused befriended her while hiding his true identity and promised her a job in India. However, once she arrived in India, she was repeatedly sexually assaulted and threatened.
The victim on Monday evening filed a complaint, leading to a case being registered against five members of the accused's family. This includes three brothers, their mother, and an uncle.
They have been charged under several sections of the Bhartiya Naya Sanhita (BNS), including insults, criminal intimidation, causing harm, and using force to disrobe a woman.
Inspector Gajendra Singh from Puranpur Police Station stated that the victim was forced into marriage and faced physical and mental abuse from her in-laws.
The police are now investigating the case to collect more evidence and ensure justice for the victim.
