Foreign doctors at AIIMS not getting salaries, struggling for basics amid COVID-19 crisis

A statement released by Foreign National Residents of AIIMS says that doctors from other countries who are working in India are not receiving their salaries

As nation grapples with dely coronavirus pandemic, a statement released by  Foreign National Residents of AIIMS says that doctors from or countries who are working in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) are t receiving ir salaries as y serve country amid pandemic.

" long-pending issue of foreign national t getting ir salary needs to be resolved as soon as possible as se foreign national doctors doing ir specialization and superspecialization are providing health services to country same as Indian nationals but are t getting ir salaries and or health care facilities. y are serving our country in this COVID-19 pandemic selflessly. government has to start giving m salaries," said Dr. arsh Pratap Singh, President, Official Association of Resident Doctors (RDA), AIIMS, New Delhi.

Taking to Twitter, association insisted that foreign doctors should get ir salaries and health care benefits similar to those of Indian doctors.

statement by Foreign National Residents of AIIMS revealed that more than 70 foreign doctors who hail from Nepal and Sri Lanka have t been paid even despite concrete directives from PMO and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare pointing out discrimination

Due to lack of monetary resources, se foreign doctors are relying on money that is been sent by ir families from ir home country. se doctors are facing worst situation as both India and Nepal are under lockdown, y might run out of money.

As a last resort, doctors have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into issue and help m in time of crisis.
